Seasonal Ingredients - Farmers' Markets

Grab your favorite recyclable bag and head out to your local farmers' market! If you never experience shopping at a Farmer's Market, you are in for a pleasant surprise.

Take cash as most farmers take cash only.

Take some time to walk through and visit each farmer. Get to know your local farmers. Don't be afraid to spark conversation. They are proud of what they do for a living and will be happy to talk to you about their awesome harvest. This is a great time to ask the questions, "What
will be in season in June?" Take notes of what may be available for harvest that you may need for your wedding menu.

Ask the big question, "Is everything locally grown and organic?"

Share this information with your caterer. Check out this eatwellguide.org
web site and find farmer markets in your area.

Create a Window to Your Destination Wedding

With destination weddings on the rise, it is becoming more and more important for couples to have a means for informing their guests of their upcoming wedding

plans as well as provide recommendations for out-of-town guests।

Wedding websites allow your guests one-stop shopping when it comes time for them to arrange their travel plans as well as other details। You can be as specific as you wish and link your website directly to the hotel reservation pages that you would like to recommend to your guests. You will find that having a website is not only a time-saver but a budget-saver as well. The multiple mailings that can sometimes become necessary to communicate with your guests can easily eat up a good portion of any wedding budget. Allowing your guests to RSVP online will also cut down on your wedding expenses. No need for RSVP cards! However, you can always order just enough for those guests who may not be web savvy.

Destination weddings have definitely become a way for couples to express their style in a less traditional way। If you choose to have your wedding in a destination location, try to make it a fun experience for you and your fiancĂ© as well as for your guests.Destination Wedding Tips1. Location, Location, Location. When selecting a location, choose one that appeals to your tastes and wedding style. Keep in mind, however, that because it won't be as easy as going down the street to the local church to attend your wedding, you'll have to assume that your guest list may be smaller. You'll need to get a good sense about the number of attendees you wish to have before selecting your event facility so you can be confident that it will be appropriate for the crowd.

2। Less is More. Destination weddings can be expensive not only for those getting married, but also for those attending. Try to be mindful of that when selecting your wedding site so those who are closest to you can afford to attend. Consider having your wedding during the off-season so costs will be lower. Traditionally, accommodation expenses are covered for the bridesmaids by the bride's family and for the groomsmen by the groom's family. All other guests should be responsible for their own expenses. Most hotels will work with you to offer group discounts.

3। Assist your Guests. You may know the location that you will be flying off to for your dream wedding like the back of your hand, but most of your guests will not. Your wedding website can be a tool to help you educate your guests about the area, local attractions, accommodation ideas, the weather and directions. Making their job easier will only amount in a larger turnout at your wedding. Use your website to remind them of the things they may not consider such as a passport if required for your chosen location.

Pre-Wedding Fitness

Who has the time!

By: Melisa Darisay Thorp, SDSU and ACE Certified Fitness Trainer

Really, who has any time to think about getting into shape before their wedding? Yeah, right! That is exactly what is on your mind as your wedding date looms closer. This is the most important day of your life and you want to look your best. So, how do you do it?

You need to think about getting into shape starting at least six months (at least!) before the big day. Starving yourself the last couple of weeks before walking down the aisle can cause a couple of bad things. The first and main one being you need good nutrition to feed your body so it can deal with all the stress associated with the last weeks prior to your wedding. The second being that your dress that you bought months before will not fit you properly!

Okay, what do you do? The best thing is to make time each day (30 minutes as a minimum) to do your favorite fitness activity. Physical activity combined with careful calorie consumption will put you in the best shape for your big day. Be it walking, jogging, rollerblading, swimming, weight training, step classes, yoga, Pilates – or even better, a combination of all. Try something new such as taking a class at your gym. Class workouts are fun and a great way to stay motivated.

Get outdoors! Nothing boosts workout motivation like enjoying the beauty of nature. Go for a hike in the mountains, walk in the sand, bike your favorite trails or rollerblade around the bay – even join in a friendly game of volleyball on your day-off visit to the beach.

Mixing up your workouts will help you stay in the fitness groove (who really wants to do the same boring workout day after day after day) and keep your body from hitting a plateau (where you work out like crazy and your body doesn’t change at all). Adding two strength workouts to your weekly cardio routine is the best way to get into optimal shape. Working with a personal trainer and/or a nutritionist is a good idea if you have problems keeping to a routine on your own or just need the extra encouragement.

The best thing is to plan your workout schedule just like you are planning your wedding. You spend months finalizing everything from food to flowers – make sure your daily fitness routine is top of the list.
